For me, it was when I was dancing with my wife, after the ceremony and many congratulations, when we could have a few minutes of peace. I remember whispering something, but not sure what, to her, listening to Chet Baker's My Funny Valentine, and just being glad to be alone for a minute.
Time Travel is the next big thing.
I didn't draw during my wedding, but lately, I've been wishing that an artist had been there to record it. With the magic of photographs, I can time travel, and be that artist, with the addition of many years of happy marriage hindsight.
This was a quick gouache study.
I wanted to get a real sense of the colors and scale, so I painted this in a quick one day session. I love how quiet it seems with the two of us holding hands so sweetly as we danced.
The prints are beautiful.
This original gouache painting is 20" x 14" on watercolor paper.
