In Fort Greene Park, a dense bed of tulips bloomed under the open sun. The trees hadn’t leafed out yet, so the light came down unfiltered—brilliant, direct. I sat just beside the flowers for an hour, watching their differences: some upright, some bowed, each with its own angle and burn.

This drawing lives in color. The ink gives it structure, but the watercolor is what holds the heat of the day. Each flower stands apart—not by precision, but by energy. The strokes don’t decorate; they describe.

A Study in Attention and Contrast
Drawn as part of the Three Paper Project, this piece was completed in one sitting with no revisions. It captures a moment of full sunlight and focused looking. Color and line work together to show not just what was there—but how it felt to sit with it.

For Rooms That Need a Burst of Spring
This piece brings vivid contrast—between calm and bloom, shadow and light. It’s for anyone who loves the brightness of the season, but also the quiet of really seeing it.
