Sapling, Construction Crane

From the walkway, I drew a young tree rising just beside a lamppost. Beyond it, a crane lifted against the sky, part of the massive rebuild underway across Gowanus.

The drawing became about parallel growth—steel pulled upward by machinery, branches reaching skyward on their own. Both new, both fragile in their way, set side by side in the same frame.
