As part of my studies for my upcoming butterfly paintings, I wanted to capture the insect in motion, about to drop down on a plant. In this one, I feel like the sun is behind the monarch, and I like to think that if you looked carefully enough, you could tell that the flower is purple.
The original drawing is 7.5" x 7.5" brush pen and ink on paper and is in my sketchbook. The print is faithful to the original drawing, so faithful that you can see hints of the other drawings on the other side of the paper. It's printed on beautiful Hahnemuhle German Etching all cotton paper using archival ink on an 11" x 8.5" paper. Just buy a cheap standard frame and you're ready to go!
