The Perfect Antidote to the Pandemic
The room was full, the band rather big, the tables arranged around the stage. We'd all had a drink (or two) and ordered some food when the band started something familiar, swinging and rocking as only a rather big band can.
At first I was afraid, I was petrified
And there was my friend, in a resplendent suit, reminding us of what we'd all been missing. Julian Fleisher, the spotlight on him, looking nothing like someone who spent the last two years chopping wood to keep his cabin warm.
And I grew strong
And I learned how to get along
At some point, we just need to get back to it.
His show at Joe's Pub was just what we needed to return to city living. It was normalcy, but it was hyperreal, like we were all extras in Julian's movie. He and his band got up there and swung, and we sang and we danced, and most of all, we made it.
Oh no, not I, I will survive
Oh, as long as I know how to love, I know I'll stay alive
It's a simple drawing, but the prints capture it.
The original drawing is 17" x 14". I print these on 22" x 17" archival Hahnemuhle German Etching paper with a healthy border using a top-of-the line Epson printer. They look exactly like the original, but you can easily just pop them in a 17" x 22" frame with no mat and they look great.
Each is signed and numbered on the back
