Tree Blazing Over Wightman Fruit Farm

Sometimes it pays to drive a little farther.

The last couple of times my family has gone leaf peeping and apple picking, we've eschewed the big, popular farms with their crazy hayrides and (admittedly) tasty cider donuts for Wightman Fruit Farms, a small, out-of-the-way apple farm with 92 varieties of Apple on just 4 or 5 acres of land. It happens to be close to two of our closest friends' house in the Catskills, so we hang out with them, grab some apples, see some leaves, and just enjoy the beautiful bucolic view.

The day we went, the sky was cloudy, which just accentuated the brilliant leaves from the maple tree growing over the family farm, so while my family picked apples, I settled down and did this quick sketch. My daughter came by and sat next to me, and it was just one of those great moments that is embodied in the drawing.

The prints are beautiful

The original drawing is in my sketchbook and is 7.75" x 9.75". I print on 8.5" x 11" paper so there's a small border around the piece. Each is signed and numbered on the front underneath the drawing.

I print on archival Hahnemuhle German Etching paper using a top-of-the-line printer, and the results are amazing. The drawing looks exactly like the original.
