The Olympics Can't be Green if the Air is Gray
Apparently, the Government of China wants to throw a "green" olympics, where all the power comes from renewable resources, despite the fact that the country relies on coal for two-thirds of their power.
Here's a country acting like it's green while still building 43 new coal-fired power plants. Well, as the saying goes, you can put lipstick on a pig, but at the end of the day, you're still burning pork. Despite edicts to use less power, the industry around Beijing can't slow down enough to keep the smog out, so all the athletes will compete in a modern hell, and the climate will just continue to get worse.
This is part of my climate series. I start each day hoping that they'll be no bad climate news for me to draw, and I finish having to choose from many options.
The archival prints are beautiful.
The original is 12" x 16" pen and brush and ink on paper, and the prints are with a 1/2" border on three sides and a 1.5" border on the bottom. These are printed using archival ink on Hahnemuhle German Etching paper. The blacks are black and the tones are almost exactly like the original. Each is signed and numbered.
