Presidential portraiture has a historical precedence.

Apparently George Washington, who lived in the time before photography, was asked to sit for so many portraits that he once wrote about his frustration: “I am so hackneyed to the touches of the Painters pencil, that I am now altogether at their beck, and sit like patience on a Monument, whilst they are delineating the lines of my face.”

But today we are inundated with images, but we don't really see them.

Because we see the President so often, we don't get that much of a chance to really look at him. I find the act of portraiture to be enlightening, it forces you to look closely, to understand the contours of the face.

Over Biden's term, I'll be making a number of studies around President's day each year.

I expect that his face will change over time. This is the second study, based on his official portrait from four years ago. He really has a nice smile.

It's a small painting with a lot of heart.

The painting is only 10" x 7", but it has a lot of energy. It's a quick study; I only allow one day.

The prints are gorgeous.

I print this using a top-of-the-line Epson printer on archival Hahnemühle German Etching 310 g/mA Paper. I use pigment based inks that are certified to last over 200 years. It is uncanny how the print looks like the original.

The paper has a subtle texture on it that feels warm. Everyone who has seen these prints is amazed at how beautiful they are.

I am so excited to be able to provide something of such high quality at a reasonable price.

It fits in standard frames.

The original drawing is 10" x 7", but the print has a 3/4" border on the left and right and a 1/2" border on the top and bottom, so the print fits in a standard 11" x 8.5" frame. You will receive a signed and numbered print. I really think you'll like it (and it makes a great gift).

Beautiful expressive print that captures a crucial historical moment perfectly!

If this moment in time had you worried about our democratic process and our continued fight for civil rights you will love this print!

Big Rain Roses

Eye Candy💕

The Big Rain Roses have not yet been hung -- they are leaning against a wall, waiting until my son moves out and I take over his room for office and crafting space. But the first day I saw these in morning light, I immediately smiled and thought to myself, "Confectionery!" The colors are both full and soft, the water-streaked effect is evocative, and the blue is particularly compelling (as seems to be the case in the Palm Court painting as well). My mother was a great lover of roses, but they are tricky to grow through Florida summers. These two prints give me both the memory of roses and the memory of my mom.

Palm Court, the painting takes me back to Palm Court, the place and my mind floods with all of the great memories of it.
