It's a pretty painting of a crazy little succulent.
I collect succulents. It's a habit I picked up from my grandfather, but I'd probably be more successful if I lived in the desert rather than Brooklyn. This is one of my favorite, and it's from Madagascar, one of the best places to find unusual plants.
I find botanical drawing relaxing.
When I need a break from heady topics, I usually draw one of my plants. There's something about the focus needed to get it right that is really relaxing. When I finish, it's like coming out of a dream, no time has passed.
The drawing is small and intimate, and the print beautiful.
The actual drawing is on a 12" x 9" piece of paper. I print this slightly smaller than full size without a border so it will fit nicely in a 11" x 8.5" frame with no mat.
The print is gorgeous, using archival pigment ink on Hahnemühle German Etching 310 g/mA Paper, which has a lovely texture. Each print is signed and numbered by me.
