I love an ancient tree.
I especially like trees with gnarly bark, and there just happens to be one at the wonderful Brooklyn Botanic Garden, which I have been visiting for over 30 years.
I've been experimenting with combining sumi ink drawing with a little color, and I think this one really shows how that technique could work. The bark looks even more rugged against the pastelly pink blossoms.
The archival prints are beautiful.
The original is 12" x 16", brush and ink and gouache on watercolor paper, and the prints are gorgeous with a 1/2" border on three sides and a 1.5" border on the bottom. These are printed using archival ink on Hahnemuhle German Etching paper. The blacks are black and the tones are almost exactly like the original. Each is signed and numbered.
